Krug Champagne is Celebrating its Latest Grande Cuvée with a Series of Global Music Installations

The champagne in question is a story of superlatives; composed of 195 different base wines from 12 different vintages, the oldest being 1998. Now it’s celebrating this composition with the very limited Krug Studio experience in four global cities.

Krug Champagne’s Multi-Modal Celebrations

The Grande Cuveé is a yearly tradition in the rarified world of Krug. While the idea of a non-vintage champagne can sour some wine aficionados, Krug’s non-vintage “Symphonies” (as they call them) remain as sought-after as any vintage. In fact, it was Krug’s founder himself, Joseph Krug, who made the case for blending with his passion and talent, 170 years ago. Today, the bulk of the responsibility lies on the shoulders of cellar master (or chef du cave) Julie Cavil. She and her team blend a variety of top quality grapes from many years to create Krug’s signature hazelnut-hued taste lives in infamy.

For much of its history, music has been an essential aspect of the Krug personality. The house has collaborated with musicians and artists for years, long understanding the influence of sound on taste and celebrating the unique ways people interpret the wines they drink.

Every year is a celebration, but Krug is going particularly global with the Grande Cuvée 170ème Édition, bringing wine-lovers together for a series of intimate, music-infused engagements in four select cities.

For 2022, Krug introduces the Krug Studio experience, an immersive audio and visual installation curated by multi-talented composer and Krug Lover, Ozark Henry. The experience explores the act of creation of Krug Grande Cuvée 170ème Édition, from the Cellar Master’s inspiration to the final performance of 195 highly talented musicians. This immersive sound journey will open gateways to new tasting sensations, revealing new facets of Krug Grande Cuvée 170ème Édition.
