Performa’s 20th Anniversary Artist Party

FREE: ABASK x R & Company Holiday Shoppable Exhibition

What is it: Just in time for the holiday season, ABASK and R & Company have transformed a chic TriBeCa storefront into a celebration of craft and design with a shoppable, collaborative exhibition. The collection spotlights over 28 artisans from ABASK’s collection alongside R & Company’s contemporary and historical makers. Co-founded by design visionaries Tom Chapman and Nicolas Pickaerts, ABASK is dedicated to connecting people with extraordinary handmade objects, curating work from over 300 global artisans. R & Company, with founders Zesty Meyers and Evan Snyderman, champions collectible design with an eye for modern innovation rooted in heritage.

Why go: This exhibition isn’t just a gallery stroll; it’s a deep dive into the art of the handmade, where contemporary design flirts with centuries-old techniques. With all works available for sale, The selection ranges from throw blankets and vases through to hand-blown champagne flutes and chess sets. Expect jaw-dropping pieces from artists like Kelly Lamb, Jolie Ngo, and Johnny Swing on R & Company’s side, and ABASK artisans like Suk Keun Kang and Andrea Tsang. Museum of Arts and Design Presents Barbie®: A Cultural Icon

Making its first-ever East Coast debut, this showcase spans Barbie’s impact on fashion and pop culture over six decades. Visitors can expect a journey through with over 250 vintage dolls on view, plus life-size fashion displays, rare memorabilia, exclusive interviews, and interactive elements, including a life-size Barbie Corvette.

What is it: Returning to the Park Avenue Armory, Salon Art + Design celebrates its 13th edition by bringing together global design excellence in one of New York’s most iconic settings. Salon Art + Design features over 50 top-tier, highly-vetted exhibitors offering museum-quality pieces from vintage and mid-century gems to the latest in contemporary art and design. Led by new Executive Director Nicky Dessources, you can expect fresh programming and immersive installations alongside celebrated works.

What is it: French Heritage Society’s annual Gala Dinner Dance, the Celestial Ball, will gather patrons of French culture an exclusive New York City club to celebrate the lasting celebration and appreciation of history between the United States and France. This year’s event celebrates the triumphant reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral, honoring both American philanthropists and artisans who contributed to its remarkable restoration. Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy at The Shed

What is it: Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy invites audiences to step into a vivid carnival dreamscape created by legendary 20th-century artists including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Sonia Delaunay, and David Hockney. Originally opened in 1987 in Hamburg by visionary André Heller, this enchanting fairground became lost to history, stored away in Texas for decades. Following its L.A. revival last year, the showcase now arrives at The Shed in NYC, transforming the McCourt space and Level 2 Gallery into an artistic funhouse with live performances and concert events.

Why go: Not seen for decades, this is one-of-a-kind dive into the whimsical side of modern art was stashed away before being completely restored thanks to Drake and his company, DreamCrew. Here, you’ll get close to iconic artists’ lesser-known creations in a carnival-inspired space that practically buzzes with color and life. Perfect for fans of surreal, immersive experiences, Luna Luna offers a rare look at unusual artworks in extraordinary formats, animated in a setting that is equal parts gallery and fantasy park.

The Shed 2024 Gala

Get a dazzling preview of Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy as part of The Shed’s 2024 Gala. The gala, benefiting The Shed’s expansive programming and production, will feature special appearances from iconic actor Kenneth Branagh, and rapper and musician Ms. Boogie, among others. Guests will enjoy access to Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy plus fabulous fare and delicious cocktails. Single tickets start at $2,500. Tickets include admission to the after-party.

Central Park Conservancy Annual Gala: Fortune's Fête

What Is It: The Central Park Conservancy’s Gala remains a highlight of the social season and one of the most important fundraisers for the world-famous Central Park. The great protectors (and enthusiasts) of New York City’s Central Park join together for an evening of celebration and support for the sustainability of the famed outdoor space. The all-night party is regularly attended by Mayor Eric Adams, Sue Donoghue, Martha Stewart, and basically the entire extended Fendi family. This year’s chairs include the McCabe and Miniter families.

Why Go: In the interest of preservation and maintenance of the park, The Conservancy is known to throw a good party. This year’s theme is “Fortune’s Fête”, a play on all things magic and mystical. Sure to be a delightful and scenic escapade held at the park’s Rumsey Playfield, we attended last year and documented the experience here. Presented by Harry Winston, the event goes late into the night and usually rolls into a lively afterparty.

What’s Involved: Cocktails, dinner, and dancing. If you’re a Young Associate, you can join for a special late seating with dessert and dancing.

FREE: Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2024

What is it: The 98th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, presented by Macy’s, will officially open the holiday season on Thursday, November 28 at 8:30 a.m. Since 1924, this annual spectacle has become a hallmark of Thanksgiving, uniting millions to celebrate with a world-class display of character balloons, imaginative floats, top-tier performers, and a joyful finale starring Santa Claus himself. Expect everything from giant balloons to Broadway show snippets in a 2.5-mile march through NYC.

Get The Full Thanksgiving Experience at the Park Terrace Hotel

Situated on Bryant Park, the Park Terrace Hotel is offering an exclusive Thanksgiving Parade Package (with a special rate!) in collaboration with Hotel Chocolat.
