With a global tour that has trekked from New York, Paris, Tokyo and beyond, Cartier has been celebrating the hundredth anniversary of its legendary Trinity collection with a series of immersive pop-up experiences, designed to explore history and evolution of this extraordinary jewelry line. Now the experience has arrived in Miami just in time for Art Week and the Miami edition of the Art Basel art fair. Miami also happens to be the final leg of the Trinity 100 tour, making it a particularly special situation. The iconic jewelry brand kicked off the opening of the exhibition with a star-studded event in Miami’s Design District before it opens to the public through the weekend.

The legend of Trinity

A timeless design first created by Louis Cartier in 1924, the Trinity ring with its interlocking bands of platinum, rose gold, and yellow gold, represents love, fidelity, and friendship. Like so many Cartier creations, the ring became a cultural mainstay almost instantly, seen on figures ranging from Jean Cocteau (who has an entire room in the exhibition dedicated to his commitment to the pieces) to tastemakers like Kylie Jenner.

The opening night celebration in Miami drew a broad range of guests, from longtime friends of the house such as Janelle Monáe (who happened to be both celebrating her birthday and playing as DJ), to talent like actor Nicholas Chavez, whose portrayals of Lyle Mendendez in Monster and roles on General Hospital have earned him praise, in addition to Miami icons like Kevin Love, forward and center for Miami Heat basketball team.

An immersive encounter

The exhibit, set within a bespoke art space in the heart of the Wynwood neighborhood features five themed galleries, each highlighting a unique aspect of the Trinity’s legacy. One room celebrates the particular creative influence of Jean Cocteau, whose double-stacked Trinity rings became his signature in the 1930s. Another room explores the design’s pop culture journey, with nods to icons like Grace Kelly and Princess Diana, exposing the near-constant presence of the collection in art, film, and fashion over the decades.

A separate gallery examines the motif of the number three, a recurring theme in Cartier’s heritage. The exhibition also previews treasures from Cartier’s archives, blending the brand’s storied past with its innovative present. Guests even have the chance to try on select pieces, adding an interactive element to the experience. Cartier’s Miami boutique is not far away in the event you’re looking for even more dazzling pieces.

Exclusive access to all-new Cartier pieces

In addition to the cultural retrospective and artistic encounter, Cartier has launched limited-edition Trinity Wild pieces featuring bold animal motifs inspired by the Maison’s love for exotic creatures like panthers, tigers, and snakes. These new designs include a two-finger ring, a single earring, and necklaces with intricate black lacquer and diamond accents.

While the collection debuts in Miami, it won’t be globally available until February 2025, making the exhibit a rare opportunity to see these creations firsthand. Trinity 100 not only celebrates Cartier’s century of craftsmanship but also reimagines its legacy for future generations.
