Festival de Cannes at 75: Read the Rare Archival French Vogue May 2005 Insert
As the world's most glamorous film festival celebrates its 75th anniversary, we climbed into the archives for a glimpse into the past by way of a forgotten Cannes-themed insert in an issue of French Vogue from May 2005.

The issue offers some interesting facts about the guests, the event itself and a healthy offering of archival images and a full editorial story by Patrick Demarchelier featuring Eva Herzigova, also on the cover.
Founded in 1946, the invite-only festival celebrates film from all over the world. It is one of the "Big Three" major European film festivals, alongside the Venice Film Festival in Italy and the Berlin International Film Festival in Germany, as well as one of the "Big Five" major international film festivals, which consists of the three major European film festivals, the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada, and the Sundance Film Festival in the United States. It is the party with no theme and really, no door. It is the Cannes Film Festival, where, ironically, great taste is lived, not only staged.
Contained in the slim insert includes the opportunity to happily indulge in the scenery of the beautiful people, some era-specific mood boards inspired by films, as well as a variety of quotes and memories from some of Cannes’ most celebrated and annual attendees. There is also a trove of paparazzi imagery and even an art work from Ed Ruscha.
