Bonded by their unique Jewish identities, Esty Haas, a Hasidic custom bridal gown designer born into a family of fashion designers, tapped fashion veteran Talya Bendel to join her in creating the debut collection for her eponymous Bridal atelier, Haas Bridal. A three-time New York Times best-dressed costume designer and wardrobe stylist, Bendel is no stranger to high fashion and high drama as the creative has worked with Christian Siriano, Titus Burgess, and media giants like Netflix, Warner Brothers, and more.
Finding Bridal Inspirations Through Time
Composed of a tapestry woven from historical, luxurious beauty, the collection is informed by the pages of history and the legends and traditions of gowns through the centuries. The gowns find significant inspiration in the Baroque with its grandeur and architectural marvels along with a strong impression of Art Deco's sensational sharpness and angularity.
Every look in the collection is an exquisite question, a puzzle of centuries and decades, daring you to discern the epoch from which each bride hails. One gown whisks you away to the grandeur of the Yew Tree ball at Versailles in 1745, while another plunges you into a Hamptons soirée, evoking the glamour of the 1920s. A mere stride or two later, and you'll find yourself at the Teatro Di San Carlo in its 1800s prime, a glittering opening night for ballet or opera.
Displaying exuberance and the ornate requires vulnerability.
This collection is an invitation to greatness, a chance to bask in the aura of magnificence, appropriate (if not necessary) for a bride. With touches of antiquity like Edwardian lace and subtle corsetry, each bride emerges as a unique storyteller, and yet, one thing remains constant: a duality— an exquisite blend of romanticism and independence, exuberance and the ornate requires vulnerability.
Support for the show came from a wide range of industry experts and enthusiasts. Sponsors and partners included Birch Events for the production design, florals, and décor; O.J. Williams for casting; David Weisz Fine Jewelry; Yocheved Gross, Cami Esses, and the Hair and Blush team for hair and makeup; Nina Shoes, The Knockturnal for show consulting; and TeddMed Inc. who provided B12 and IV Drips.
The fusion of Talya Bendel's contemporary flair and Esty Haas's timeless elegance is an artistic marvel and a strong debut showing for one of the bridal’s world’s most in-demand designers. Gowns are priced from $5,000-$9,000.
